Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) refers to the inflammation of the female internal genital organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries). While biomedicine primarily treats PID with massive amounts of antibiotics, TCM can alleviate the side effects of the antibiotics, and assist in the rapid recovery of the patient. Using a variety of modalities, including internal administration of Chinese medicinals, herbal enemas, acupuncture and moxibustion, and physical therapies, as well as lifestyle modifications to strengthen the patient's constitution, recurring attacks of PID may be prevented or cured.
