Das Nicaeno-Constantinopolitanum (NC) kann als das wichtigste Glaubensbekenntnis der Ökumene gelten. In den meisten Kirchen und Konfessionen genießt es eine hohe Anerkennung, bedeutende ökumenische Zusammenschlüsse haben sich darauf explizit verpflichtet. Wie aber steht es mit der Rezeption des NC in der Reformationszeit? Welche Bedeutung hatte dieser Bekenntnistext im 16. Jahrhundert? Jennifer Wasmuth geht in der vorliegenden Studie diesen Fragen anhand einer detaillierten Untersuchung der maßgeblichen Schriften Martin Luthers und Philipp Melanchthons nach. Im Ergebnis wird aufgezeigt, wie das NC zu einem Kerntext normativer lutherischer Lehre werden konnte. The Nicene Creed can be considered the most important creed of ecumenism. In most churches and denominations it enjoys a high level of recognition and important ecumenical associations have explicitly committed themselves to it. But what about the reception of the Nicene Creed in the Reformation period? What was the significance of this confessional text in the sixteenth century? Jennifer Wasmuth investigates these questions on the basis of a detailed examination of the authoritative writings of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon. As a result, it is shown how the Nicene Creed could become a core text of normative Lutheran doctrine.
