Stephanie Großmann: Echo der Berge - Klänge der Heide. Musik im Heimatfilm der 1950er Jahre

Summary. The article presents in its first part an overview of how musical and visual elements can generally interact and interlink within the film. It focuses especially on the potential of music to produce and influence narrative structures and strategies. Based on this, the contribution then examines - by taking the example of the Heimatfilm of the 1950s - how film music affects and leads the filmic narration in this genre and which semantics it connects to the items 'music' and 'music-making'.

Zusammenfassung. Der Beitrag präsentiert zunächst einen Überblick über die Bandbreite der zentralen bildlich-musikalischen Relationen im Film und fokussiert dabei das Potenzial der Musik, narrative Strukturen und Strategien hervorzubringen und zu beeinflussen. Aufbauend darauf untersucht der Beitrag dann am Beispiel des Heimatfilms der 1950er Jahre, welchen Einfluss die Filmmusik auf das filmische Erzählen nimmt und mit welchen Semantiken dieses Genre die Größen 'Musik' und 'Musizieren' auflädt.


Hans Krah: Der Schlager, der Film und die 1950er Jahre. Überlegungen zur 'Schlagersphäre' als Semiosphäre

Summary. Based on Lotman's concept of the semiosphere, this paper models the concept of a specific 'Schlager sphere' for the Schlager film of the 1950s and presents some basic theses on the relationship between Schlager music and Schlager film of this period. The concept of the semiosphere generally describes an exchange in which something new/alien is integrated into the well-known, thereby initiating constant transformation. For the 'Schlager sphere', however, it turns out that it is insignificant for Schlager music that it itself is basically only a form of imitation. Thus, it carries semantics of the open and fluids and demands them at least symbolically for itself.

Zusammenfassung. Ausgehend von Lotmans Konzept der Semiosphäre wird für den Schlagerfilm der 1950er Jahre das Konzept einer Schlagersphäre modelliert und werden einige Grundthesen zum Verhältnis von Schlager und Schlagerfilm der 1950er Jahre dargelegt. Für das Semiosphärenkonzept des Austauschs, bei dem Neues/Fremdes im Eigenen einbezogen und so ständiger Wandel initiiert wird, bedeutet dies selbst, so eine der Thesen, dass das Semiosphärenkonzept für den Schlager nur imitiert wird, um die damit transportieren Semantiken des Offenen und des Fluiden konnotativ und zumindest symbolisch für sich rekrutieren zu können.


Dennis Gräf: Zur Funktionalisierung von Schlagern im deutschen Autorenfilm der 1960er Jahre

Summary. Films of the German 'Autorenfilm' represent aesthetic products, that can be read as a rebellion against the economically established German Post-War-Film perceived as being superficial and meaningless; thus representing an attack on what Lotman described as cultural centre. By strategically incorporating medial products such as the German 'Schlager' - a genre that can be understood as a means of escape from social reality in the 1960s - into the setting of the Autorenfilm, cultural phenomena are set in a new context and thus contour an objectionable system of cultural values. The German Schlager is thus being defamed as an unintellectual and ridiculous music genre, which can be interpreted as an attack on a 'mainstream' culture that tends to being merely consumed but hardly being reflected.
