Die Beiträge wurden ursprünglich in den Jahren zwischen 1936 und 1982 veröffentlicht, drei davon werden erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung vorgelegt. Hayek entwickelt hier Gedanken, die wesentliche theoretische Grundlagen seiner Sozialphilosophie und Wirtschaftstheorie bilden.
