Benedikt XVI., geboren am 16. April 1927 in Marktl als Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, ist emeritierter Papst. Vom 19. April 2005 bis zu seinem Amtsverzicht am 28. Februar 2013 war er Oberhaupt der römisch-katholischen Kirche und damit auch Staatsoberhaupt des Staates Vatikanstadt. Er war nach Gregor V. (996) und Damasus II. (1048) der dritte bayerische Papst und nach Coelestin V. (1294) der zweite Papst der Geschichte, der freiwillig von seinem Amt zurücktrat. Benedikt starb am 31.
