Musik trägt zur religiösen Lebenskunst bei. Wie das geschieht und wie es theologisch zu würdigen ist, zeigen die Beiträge dieses Bandes. Musik konnte vor allem im Protestantismus zum herausragenden Medium spiritueller Erfahrungen werden. Sie lässt sich als Spiel der Freiheit theologisch wertschätzen. Und in ihr spiegeln sich in unterschiedlicher Weise Gottesbilder. Zugleich wird in der Kirche um Stile und Formen von musikalischer Praxis gerungen. Das Neue Geistliche Lied, Gospel oder etwa Techno kommen auf den Prüfstand. Worin die Chancen des Musizierens im Gottesdienst, in der Gemeindeentwicklung und in der religiösen Bildungsarbeit liegen, wird aufgezeigt. It can be appreciated theologically as a play of freedom. Images of God are reflected in it in different ways. At the same time, there is a struggle for styles and forms of musical practice in the church. "Neues Geistliches Lied" (new spiritual song), gospel or techno, for instance, are being put to the test. The contributions highlight opportunities for playing music in worship, in congregational development and in religious education. And they develop the idea that singing continues to count as one of the features of Christian faith in public.
