Die Denktradition der Māturīdīya gehört zu einer der bedeutendsten und einflussreichsten Kalām-Traditionen des Islams. Im Unterschied zu anderen Kalām-Traditionen wurde ihr und ihrem Begründer al-Māturīdī deutlich weniger Beachtung geschenkt. Gerade im Zuge der Einrichtung der Islamischen Theologie an deutschen Universitäten soll der systematischen Erarbeitung dieses Desiderats der Forschung mit einschlägigen Beiträgen Rechnung getragen werden.
Al-Māturīdī is one of Islam’s most significant theologians, and his intellectual impact continues to this day. Although his rational theology became influential and is of great theological significance, al-Māturīdī’s religious thought has received relatively little scholarly attention in the German-speaking context. This volume delves into the trajectory of al-Māturīdī’s thinking historically and systematically.
