Today, it is equally resonant with the events of the Holocaust. It is also an elegant piece of Renaissance writing. Slavitt's skillful translation preserves the thyme scheme of the original, and wonderfully evokes the lavishness and sensuousness of Pinto Delgado's descriptions.
