This volume presents, for the first time, the edition of an early codification of norms in the Logudorese vernacular, a text important for the understanding of medieval Sardinia. It provides a parallel presentation of its two versions, in Sardinian and Latin, together with a detailed description of all text witnesses, a study of the language including glossary and name index, as well as an appendix with essays setting out the work’s historical context.
La Sardegna conosce un precoce impiego della lingua volgare in ambito giuridico, giungendo con gli Statuti di Sassari all’elaborazione del suo testo più esteso, tra le prime testimonianze di raccolte organiche di norme dello spazio romanzo.
Le trascrizioni finora esistenti non tenevano conto dell’intera tradizione manoscritta dei testi e delle informazioni corrisposte dai testimoni, non permettevano di descrivere e indagare la lingua, né tantomeno di condurre osservazioni fondate in merito ai rapporti tra le due redazioni.
La presente edizione consegna una trascrizione condotta con criteri scientificamente condivisi e sempre dichiarati; pone per la prima volta l’attenzione sui manoscritti, permettendo di fondare il testo sui dati da questi offerti; l’analisi linguistica dà conto di tutti gli aspetti rilevanti e innovativi della scripta, della morfo-sintassi e del lessico; convergenze e divergenze tre le redazioni sono problematizzate e discusse in tutti i casi in cui siano da ritenere significative per la comprensione dei momenti dell’elaborazione del testo.
La comunità scientifica si potrà avvalere di un’edizione affidabile per lo studio di un segmento linguistico e culturale importante per il Medioevo neolatino.
