This book provides a unique comparison between gastrointestinal ultrasound (GIUS) and endoscopy for the assessment of intestinal bowel disease (IBD).
GIUS is a valuable non-invasive tool in the management of IBD that has the potential to shift clinical practice paradigm. Currently underused in clinical practice, GIUS complements conventional endoscopy and cross-sectional imaging.One of the key challenges in facilitating the uptake of GIUS in the routine clinical practice has been the lack of an internationally recognized training curriculum. This edited atlas will be an invaluable source of information on the relevance of GIUS investigation in IBD patients, compared with endoscopy findings.
The Atlas has been created under the patronage of two prominent scientific societies: IgIBD (Italian Group for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases), one of the leading Italian organizations in the field of gastroenterology and imaging diagnostics, and the IBUS Group (International Bowel Ultrasound Group), a distinguished international organization dedicated to the teaching and promotion of intestinal ultrasound techniques.
