Dort setzte er sich durch seine Fahrzeug- und Motorenkonstruktionen selbst ein Denkmal: Zwischen 1907 und 1914 entwickelte er 16 verschiedene Motorentypen, darunter seine besonders bedeutsamen Kompressormotoren. Harry Niemann beleuchtet in diesem einmaligen Band das Leben und Werk von Paul Daimler, dem Wegbereiter einer Technik, die bis heute noch in Automobilen zu finden ist. Illustriert wird die Biografie mit über 200 Abbildungen, darunter Bildmaterial aus den Archiven der Daimler AG.
