The Jackdaw anthologies provide ideal practice reading for National Curriculum tests, with their fiction, fact and poetry texts on linked themes. We have therefore taken two sample themes, Castles and Giants, and compiled practice workbooks of reading comprehension and spelling questions, based on the style of the current tests at Key Stage 1 for Levels 2, 3 and 4. Also enclosed are teacher's notes on administration and marking, so that schools who are concerned about testing can
teach the skills of reading comprehension, practise the full range of question types, and assess their pupils' levels of attainment within National Curriculum guidelines.
