    Healthy eating throughout childhood can be crucial in deterring many of the diseases that occur in later in adult life. Parents often have many concerns about diet and nutrition and require accurate and sensible advice from health professionals. The first edition of the Handbook of child nutrition proved a popular practical guide for health visitors, community nurses, midwives, and anyone dealing with dietary information in the course of their work. This new edition provides a general introduction to nutrition in childhood. It includes practical information for community health workers, providing age appropriate dietary advice for both healthy and sick children. The book discusses normal infant feeding practices, current issues on healthy eating in children and adolescents, feeding problems, food allergies, obesity, and the dietary management of children with chronic diseases. New to the second edition are sections on growth in children, feeding the premature infant, enteral tube feeding, and parenteral nutrition with particular reference to feeding methods in the community. A list of self-help groups, and further sources of information have also been included.
