Der österreichische Volkswirtschaftler Friedrich von Wieser (1851-1926) gilt neben Carl Menger und Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk als Begründer der Österreichischen Schule der Nationalökonomie. Wieser studierte zunächst Jura, habilitierte sich 1883 in politischer Ökonomie, und hatte ab 1889 zuerst eine Professur in Prag, von 1903 an in Wien inne. In den Jahren 1917/1918 war er Mitglied des Herrenhauses und Handelsminister.
