Schlimmer kann es für Eliah, den noch fast kindlich anmutendenHelden in einer postapokalyptischen Szenerie, nicht mehr kommen - könnte man meinen. Denn Endo, der Zeichner dieser Endzeit-Story, ist dafür bekannt, dass er sich nicht an gängige Genre-Konventionen hält.
Die Gegensätze der Machtblöcke treten in Bildern zutage, die für Endo typisch sind: auf der einen Seite der jugendlich-unschuldig anmutende Held, auf der anderen Sequenzen einer bestialischen Brutalität, die - zumal oft an Schwächeren vollzogen - die ganze innere Zerrissenheit und das Gespaltensein einer Welt nach dem Untergang zeichnet. Diese Bilder bleiben nicht ohne Wirkung auf den Leser.
