This volume is comprised of eight chapters that detail advances in sociology research. Chapter one analyzes SMML situations from the standpoint of the capabilities approach. Chapter two evaluates the salient features of those liberal values in the amphitheatre of immigration control and measures its compliance to liberal democratic ideologies and thus explores the dilemma -if any- faced by the UK in what is referred as the ‘liberal democratic paradox.’ In chapter three the model of deliberative democracy – as a set of principles, a methodology for solving publicly significant problems, and procedures for conducting legitimizing public communication – is considered an ideal of liberal democracy. The main goal of chapter four is, through philosophical analysis, to determine to what extent the pendulum has moved away from the approach of J. Maritain and closer to the understanding of sovereignty as understood by C. Schmitt, and in what way the movement of the pendulum will affect the future of the fundamental ideas of liberal democracy. Chapter five delves into the clash between two prominent theoretical approaches within musicology: representational and constructivist theories. Chapter six addresses Obstetric Violence (OV) as a form of gender-based violence, particularly affecting female individuals. Chapter seven examines the major candidates who managed to collect substantial amounts of money (about USD 100 million) and spent it on their election campaigns in the political seasons of 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. The final chapter provides an introspection about the real conditions and challenges faced by differently-abled women in Indian society and proposes remedies at the rudimentary level for the better and harmonious development of disabled women.
