Attaxe wurden 1985 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, von Sänger Juan Ricardo gegründet. Sie veröffentlichten Ende der 80er Jahre mehrere Demos, die es auf die Spitze vieler College Radio-Playlists schafften, darunter Out of The Storm im Jahr 1986 und Metal Messiah im Jahr 1987. 1988 erschien mit Gitarrist Gregg Perry ein Demo eines Nebenprojekts namens Zyclone und 1989 veröffentlichte Attaxe Are You Ready?, das viel Radioairplay bekam. Im Jahr 1990 tauchten Attaxe mit Pedal To The Metal auf der noch heute beliebten Compilation Heavy Artillery auf. Attaxe lösten sich 1990 auf, als sich Sänger Juan Ricardo Torment anschloss, die ihren Namen bekanntlich in Ritual änderten. 1993 nahmen sie für Massacre Records das Album Trials Of Torment auf, welches Juan Ricardo auch in Europa als perfekten US-Metal-Sänger etablierte. Nachdem Juan jahrelang nach Demoaufnahmen gefragt worden war, veröffentlichte er 2006 eine Zusammenstellung der Demos mit dem Titel Attaxe 20 Years the Hard Way. Attaxe reformierte sich 2019 offiziell und unterschrieb bei Pure Steel Records, die 2020 20 Years the Hard Way neu veröffentlichte. Ihr erstes Album Attaxe Braving The Tempest erscheint am 30. August 2024 via Golden Core/ZYX. Juan Ricardo ist einer der wenigen wirklich typischen US Metal Sänger. Aktuell ist er auch noch bei Wretch aktiv und war zuvor bei u.a. Blind Cross, Sunless Sky, Arena, Chemikill oder Stryker.
