Valentino Bonvicini, bekannt als Herausgeber des französischen Renaissanceromanes von 1610 DER WEG ZUM ERFOLG - LE MOYEN DE PARVENIR in deutscher Übersetzung von Barbara Scholz, bearbeitet von Dr. phil. W. H. Rathgeber, Germanist. Diese Oper wurde 1909 in Italien aufgeführt, so z.B. im Teatro San Carlo in Neapel, wo Rina Giachetti die Tess sang, und im Teatro Dal Verme in Mailand, wo Tina Desana die Tess sang. Diese Ausgabe ist die DEUTSCHE ERSTAUSGABE. Das Stück kann nicht nur als Oper bzw. Melodrama, sondern auch als Sprechtheater aufgeführt werden.
