Rockabilly ist eine frühe Form der Rockmusik, die von weißen Musikern im Süden Amerikas entstanden ist. Sie war Mitte der 50er bis in die 60er populär und wurde in den späten 70er wiederbelebt. Schallplattenkritiker prägten den Begriff Rockabilly, was wörtlich übersetzt soviel heißt wie: Rockn Roll, gespielt von Hinterwäldlern In den späten 1940er Jahren spielte das Radio Rhythm & Blues und Gospel in ganz Nordamerika und inspirierte damit junge weiße Musiker der Arbeiterklasse (insbesondre in Gegenden mit afroamerikanischer Bevölkerung), schwarze Musikstile mit Country-Musik zu mischen. Das Ergebnis wurde ursprünglich als Country-and-Western Rhythm & Blues bezeichnet, wurde jedoch trotz der meist abfälligen Assoziationen des Wortes Hillibilly als Rockabilly bekannt.
