Haus Wahnfried, der ehemalige Wohnsitz Richard Wagners in Bayreuth, ist heute ein dem Komponisten gewidmetes Museum und eine Pilgerstätte für Wagnerianer. Doch in diesem Jahr ist vieles anders: Wegen der Corona-Pandemie mussten die Bayreuther Festspiele abgesagt werden, das Festspielhaus blieb geschlossen. Dafür aber gab es am 25. Juli, dem traditionellen Eröffnungstermin der Festspiele, ein besonderes Konzert im Haus Wahnfried, das von BR Klassik live übertragen wurde. Ab Oktober sind die Höhepunkte auf CD und als digitales Audio erhältlich. Christian Thielemann, die Sopranistin Camilla Nylund und Mitglieder des Bayreuther Festspielorchesters musizieren Wagners Siegfried-Idyll und seine Wesendonck-Lieder. Wagner-Werke also, die nicht zu seinem Opernschaffen gehören und daher nie im Festspielhaus zu hören sind. Dazu noch aufgenommen im Haus Wahnfried, aus dem es bisher nur ganz wenige Aufnahmen gab. Ein sehr besonderes Konzert!
